Paper published on bacterial fluorescent stain TramTO

Our article entitled "A Far-Red Fluorescent DNA Binder Enables Interaction Studies of Live Multidrug-Resistant Pathogens and Host Cells" has been accepted for publication by Angewandte Chemie, one of the leading journals in chemistry. This interdiscplinary work by the Schulte and Vazquez labs describes a new far-red bacterial fluorescent dye, TramTO, suitable for FACS and microscopy analysis of the interplay of live bacterial pathogens with their host cells. We show that TramTO labeling may replace bacterial fluorescent protein-tagging methods in macrophage uptake assays with the advantages of a less time-consuming labeling strategy and the…

We are now member of the SFB-TR84

We are now member of the "Sonderforschungsbereich" SFB-TR84 - Innate Immunity of the Lung (https://www.sfb-tr84.de/). Our project will further elucidate the mechanistic implications of lncRNAs in the human mononuclear phagocyte system with an emphasis on innate defense against bacterial agents of pneumonia.

Joint Symposium on Chemistry & Medicine in Shanghai

A joint symposium with representatives of the medical and chemical faculties of the Philipps-University Marburg and the Tongji University Shanghai will take place from May 23-25 2018 in Shanghai. The symposium will be part of the 'Marburg Days', taking place at the same time to foster the strategic partnership between both universities. PhD students and faculty members are welcome to join. Please do not hesitate to contact us. On behalf of the scientific coordinators, Leon Schulte (leon.schulte@uni-marburg.de)
